The smallest island on the tour. The rolling hills surround an enormous bay. Impassible mountains make deadly traps for the unwary. In the center of the island is a large chasm of unknown origin, and the deserted remains of an archaeology outpost.

"Delphaeus Hills" (misspelled "Delapheus Hills" in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn) is the first and smallest area in Carnivores 2, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn, and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt. As to be expected from the first available hunting area, it is the cheapest, costing only twenty points in Carnivores 2 and Dinosaur Hunter, and free in Dinosaur Hunter HD and Reborn. The area is an island covered in coniferous forest, with a swamp to the southwest and an abandoned DinoHunt Corp. archaeology outpost in the center of the island.

Landmarks

Despite being a very basic island, "Delphaeus Hills" does have some notable landmarks.

Swamp

In the southwest corner of the island is a large swamp contained inside a deep valley. A fallen log lies across the main entrance, forming a spot that can trap animals and make them easy targets. However, the walls of the swamp provide little protection from carnivores; they can still jump or climb them to attack the unwary hunter.

Arch

Directly east of the swamp across the river is an arch-like rock formation. Larger dinosaurs usually can't pass.

Hills

On the southernmost center of the island are the hills it was named for. A thick fog rolls through them, making good cover for dangerous dinosaurs.

Chasm

Slightly north of the center of the island is a deep, inescapable crack-like chasm plagued by a reddish fog. It is a good place to ambush herbivores or trap carnivores.

Abandoned archaeology outpost

Archaeology outpost

The archaeology outpost.

Main article: Archaeology outpost

In the northern center of the island, a little north of the chasm, is an abandoned DinoHunt Corp. archaeology outpost. The perimeter is surrounded by a long wall made out of what may be stone. The large wall has partially collapsed in areas allowing vegetation to grow on it, as well as allowing animals to enter the outpost. The northernmost part of the outpost is guarded by a huge building crowned with a large satellite dish. Inside the camp are several trenches and crates covered with strange symbols, as well as a derelict, partially flooded bunker. Unfortunately for the hunter, carnivores can push themselves through the walls or use the doorway to enter, meaning this bunker is not a safe zone.

Delphaeus Hills menu icon location and facing

A screenshot showing the location and facing the menu image was taken.

The menu image for "Delphaeus Hills" was taken in the foothills on the southern end of the island, facing northwest during dawn.

While the terrain and the ground and object textures appear to be identical between the menu image and the same area in-game, there are a number of differences: certain objects (most noticeably some of the trees in the background) were added or removed, the texture of the sky was changed, and the scene's lighting is different.

While the menu image has a square aspect ratio, this is only because the screenshot used to create it was horizontally squashed.

Delaphaeus HIlls

"Delphaeus Hills" in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD.

"Delphaeus Hills" returns in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt as the first area available to hunt in. This version of the map bears almost no resemblance to its PC counterpart; the crates from the outpost are still present, but otherwise the area is unrecognizable. Like the other two locations, "Delphaeus Hills" is available to hunt during the day, at dusk, and in fog, with different dinosaurs available depending on the time.

Day (Start)
Dusk (1500 points)
Fog (8000 points)

The shooting range is located on one of the smaller islands surrounding "Delphaeus Hills".

"Delphaeus Hills" returns in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt with its name corrected to how it was spelt in the older games.
